Evolution is a VERY complex thing and to say it is pure random is big BS. There are Many factors that drive evolution. Viruses for example play a very big role they can take a gene from one species and give it to another and at the same time keep pressure on a species so it must evolve to defend against the virus.
Also, evolution and creation dont exclude each other....dont believe everything (actually anything) the tea party says.

This is known as Haldane's Dilemma - the trade secret of evolutionary genetics.
Adaptation can take place quite quickly. Just look at the beak shapes of finches on the Galapagos islands, a perfect example of natural selection operating on pre-existing alleles. However information adding, both quantitative and qualitative, is both rare and slow. Too slow to support the microbes to man type evolution.

Also, by natural selection, it can take about 5 years for a population to adapt and hence evolve. Just look at the beak shapes of finches on the Galapagos islands- a perfect example, studied by the man who invented the theory.

Well, even a single change in one gene can have several consequences. And sometimes it takes only a couple changes to make a completely different species.

I love when creationists attempt math. The outcome is... hilarious.
