If youre using an Eppendorf, its easy to do 0.1ml +99.9ml.......
You have an eppendorf tube containing 1mL of solution with 4.3 x 10^4 cells/mL and you are to produce a solution that contains 43 cells/mL. What dilutions must you perform?

To go from 4.3e4 to 4.3e1, you must dilute 1000x. If you're using an Eppendorf, it's easy to do 0.1ml + 99.9ml.
