so they arent counted-The atomic number of an element is the number of protons in the nucleus. The atomic mass number is the number of protons + the number of neutrons (i.e. the total number of particles in the nucleus.)-Atomic # is the protons and electrons. To find the the mass you sub tract the atomic number and mass.......
What does the atomic number tell you ?
What does the atomic mass number tell you ?
plz help me :)

This is Chemistry I believe, but the atomic number tells you the number of protons in the nucleus while the atomic mass is the amount of protons and neutrons in the nucleus.

The atomic number is the number of protons in the nucleus of the atom , which is how the atom is identified as u cannit gain or loose protons. The atomic masd of tje number of protons + neutrons. Protons abd neutrons each have a mass if approximately 1 atomic mass unit (amu) electrons have a very low mass, almost 0, so they arent counted
