1. Sponges were alive. They are one of the most simple organisms on earth. They do not have a nervous or digestive system.
2. Water is not alive, nor was it ever.
3. Yeast is a eukaryotic micro-organism. It is a fungi.
4. Salts are nutrients. Table salt is a chemical compound that called sodium chloride (NaCl).
5. A Sea sponge is a regular sponge, it is just still alive.
6. Coral is alive, and very easy to kill.
7. A tree trunk is part of a living thing, it is alive while it is on the tree.
8. Shells were the external skeleton (exoskeleton) of mollusks.
9. A bone, like a tree trunk, is part of a living thing but it cannot live on its own.
10. Pine cones are a part of a living thing.
11. Rock were never alive.
12. Cotton balls are products of the cotton plants (not directly they have been processed and refined).
13. Wine corks come from cork, which is a type of tree so it was at one point living.
