My dad has blue eyes with pale blue in them and my mother has green eyes (a form of brown) with almost dark golden dots in them and a brown ring round the pupil. I'm not sure about my grandparents' eyes but I'm guessing it the genotypes of my parents are bb for my father and Bb for my mother.

So you'd expect me to have eyes like my mother or eyes like my father, but I have neither?
not sure if it's just central heterochromia or whether or not my parents' eye colour genes mixed?
I'm really interested in genetics (although no where near clever enough to study it) and was just wondering

Eye color is much more complicated than Bb mixing with bb, unfortunately! :) Eye color is a polygenic trait; this means there is more than one gene that controls it. We know of at least 3 genes that contribute to eye color (EYCL1, EYCL2, and EYCL3). Eye color genetics is very complicated because of this, so it is difficult to predict what color a child's eyes will be based on looking at the parental phenotypes.
