I'm about to finish my freshman year in college, and I'm currently undecided.
I recently decided on doing a Bio major, pre-optometry.
Now, I'm wondering if I should switch to business (completely different course path), because it'll get me a job right after I graduate, whereas I still have to go to optometry school (always at the risk of not getting in).
Suggestions of what I should do? Stay bio major, minor in business (not sure of what yet?), switch to major in business, minor in bio (to help me on the OAT the test for Optometry school)?
I'm going to stick with Pre-Optometry, always as my option, but I just want to major in something that can always be my back up for a job to fall back on.
This would be ideal- if I major in Bio, but I can get a business setting job- because I don't want to do research for the rest of my life. What kind of jobs are those? And, do they pay well?

Jobs in biology don't pay well and there aren't a lot of them sadly. I would recommend double majoring in both biology and business. Then you don't have to decide plus, if you decide you don't like one or the other you can always convert one major into a minor.
Its smart of you to try and combine a biology degree with a business degree. The types of jobs that might exist include working in technology transfer, working in sales at a biotech, or going to a graduate program such as optometry like you suggest. You may also be able to work with a start up or something along those lines. Keep in mind though that there are a lot of people with a PhD in biology and an MBA so the top level positions are still competitive and a bachelors may not be enough. Its good you are thinking about these things now though.
