Doesn't life seem like the equivalent to a yeast infection to the earth

A yeast or fungal infection is bad to the person afflicted with it. A few billion years ago earth found itself in the WRONG place.

And little weird things started developing on its "skin"

And natural disasters have been a way to kill these little weird creatures.

But they keep coming back!
