We can ask a colleague for information or assistance. Sometimes we do that even when we DO know, but want assurance that we are on the right track.
We can refer the patient to someone with more specialized knowledge.
Sometimes, we just have to say that we don't know. "Why did you go into atrial fibrillation? I don't know."
