what if it was something like a protype aircraft and it was all a cover up?

I have been hearing about the Roswell incident for years and have yet to see a piece of hard evidence that suggests it was a crashed alien spacecraft. Until I do, I will continue to believe it was indeed a weather balloon that crashed as was initially reported. It is a way more logical and rational conclusion to have. But to answer your question, no, they won't lose their beliefs. It doesn't matter if it is someone that strongly believes in aliens, ghosts, big foot, the boogie man or what have you, they all cherry pick the evidence that can vaguely support their cause and they ignore the rest. So, if it did turn out to be a prototype aircraft that crashed, they will manipulate the facts so that they will support their argument, even if the majority of the facts proves them wrong.

It was clearly a weather balloon, and everyone with any sense knows it. In fact there is no evidence at all that anything alive from space has ever been to the Earth.
Yet people still believe what they want to anyway. That's why belief in space boogiemen and their fanciful contraptions is a religion rather than a science.
Fortunately when people grow up, they tend to get a stronger grip on reality, and get over the spaceman stuff.
Cheers!

I don't believe so.
Most people I have spoken to about aliens(a lot, it's something I must know about every person, along with other beliefs such as religion and ghosts) say the reason they believe aliens exist is because it's hard for them to believe we are the only existing life forms in the entire universe. Especially us atheists. It tears up their minds, ahah(;
And people go 'Oh? But if aliens existed then why haven't they been here? Why don't we see them? Blah, blah, blah.'
Yo. The general idea of an alien is the super smart, super advanced weird creatures, right? How would we even know that? They could be less advanced than us, or maybe they have been here. People claim they do. Maybe they are just like us, confused and curious but no means to supply their curiosity.
