We're between two of the spiral arms towards the edge of galaxy.
This makes sense because, if we IN one of the spiral arms, we would be around a dense section of stars and thus we would have unstable orbits meaning no life is possible.

Actually, I guess the other guy was more correct, looks like we are kind of in the middle of the galaxy--I thought we were much further out.

We're 25,000 light years or so out from the centre of the galaxy (about half way between core and fringe), currently located on the "upper" edge of the Orion Cygnus spiral arm.
We're in what could be described as the galactic suburbs - a good job too because the centre of the galaxy is so saturated with radiation that life couldn't survive there.

We are about 30,000 light years away from the center of our galaxy.

In one of the bands of the spiral.. we are in the mid-outer portion of it.
