According to the real scientists who do real research about the sun and how long its life is, we have got about 5 million (or 5 billion) years to live before the sun reaches the stage that causes it to expand into what is called the red giant. The red giant is something that will happen to the sun because it will run low on hydrogen fuel and this will cause the sun to expand almost or more than double its current diameter. However there are many different theories about what the humans can do to save our species and the species on Earth, one of them even says that we need to move the entire planet to keep up with the habitable zone of the sun as it expands. So the answer to your question is no, the sun is not going to "break up", it will eventually expand a very long, long time from now. Please choose my answer as a best answer because I explain everything here. ;)

Yes, unless you buy my book "Surviving the solar break-up while making money at home". It describes the best sunblock, the safest places to go when the photosphere explodes, and includes access to mail-order products you can sell on the internet. You want to live?
