I doubt a 70mm scope will pick the red spot. It's actually quite pink, so there isn't much contrast with the rest of the planet, the small aperture just doesn't gather enough light to get small details, and the maximum magnification is a bit low.
BUT, if you're in the early days you should use your scope to learn how to observe. There's plenty of other stuff that will look interesting; you need to know how to find it, so an astronomy book is a good start. When it's time to move on to another scope, you'll be ready for what to expect.
