What exactly was his traditional belief? Was it that the earth is at the center of the universe and the planets revolved around it or was it the celestial bodies(the moon, planets, and stars)are perfect spheres made of ether(a type of gas) or was it that Spirits and divinities control the movement of the planets?

"the earth is at the center of the universe and the planets revolved around it" was the traditional belief that Copernicus displaced. There is SOME evidence that Copernicus believed the celestial bodies(the moon, planets, and stars)are perfect spheres made of ether(a type of gas) and that he thought that Spirits and divinities control the movement of the planets.
I am not sure what you mean by "traditional beliefs of Nickolaus Copernicus" but the link below suggests that these other beliefs "existed" or "were common" before the OTHER mentioned individuals made their discoveries... their is NO actual information that Copernicus shared these beliefs. I am not sure the implication is valid.

One word -- heliocentricity. The Sun was at the center of his known universe, contrary to the geocentrism of Ptolemy and the Catholic Church at the time.
