Milky Way in northern hemisphere

Which season is good to see the milky way in the sky in the northern hemisphere? More specifically, from Wyoming?

Myself, I think winter offers the best view of the river, but its kind of a matter of opinion.
If you want to see the center (Sagittarius) you need to kinda do it in early morning in March.

Winter is probably best (and least comfortable) because there is very little humidity in the Mountain West in winter.

But you can see the Milky Way year-round in Wyoming... and it can actually be brighter during the summer (although less well defined at the edges).

You are looking for the pale, whitish (milky if you will) band that goes completely across the sky.

That.... is the Milky Way... your galaxy.... as viewed from the outer edge where our solar system is.

It's milky....because you are looking into a flattened spiral of stars from the edge of the spiral.

The summer would be the best time. Chose a moonless night and dark sky, you'll see a band of light running from the south to the north in the sky that will be the Milky Way, it will nearly over head in late June at midnight, the middle of July at 11 pm, late July at 10 pm, middle of August at 9 pm, and late August at 8 pm.

Fall to winter are best, if you can find a clear night; you're looking more towards the heart of the milkyway, where it's brighter, towards sagitarius.
