Here's the deal. There is no way to scientifically prove that it will happen, but at the same time there is no way to prove that it won't happen. We can't see into the future, so there is no way to know for certain, and that is why people still think that it will happen.
I personally don't think that the world will end in 2012.

actually there is a possibility always when the magnetic poles switch there is a time with no magnetic field so solar rays could burn through all life on the worlds surface and we ae overdue a pole shift also E.G. japan who would of guessed they would of been hit by an Earthquake just because someone says does not mean they are right tke the weather man for example he is told by scientists it will rain where you live but.......

People believe others like themselves that don't know any actual facts, rather than doing any research. And since reading what scientists have to say about anything means people have to actually do some research, they simply ignore facts and continue to "share" any misinformation they happen to retain somehow.

Because the World is going to end on 12.21.12 is a more interesting story than the World is going to continue on 12.21.12. People have a preference for interesting stories to the detriment of rational thought.
