If scientists have already said that..

The world won't end in 2012 and the reasons why it won't why do people still think it's going to end?

Anyone who believes this must be one of the following:
1) A gullible kid who will believe anything.
2) An uneducated adult who knows nothing about science.
3) A drug-taking new-age wacko who believes in 'mystical signs' and 'ancient predictions'.
4) A conspiracy nutcase who will latch on to anything as long as it goes against what the government or NASA are saying.

The people in 3) and 4) have dredged up all sorts of impossible claims of doom in 2012, not one of which has any factual basis. 2012 will be just an average year.

Because a lot of the people in this country are getting dumber and dumber every day. I will cite, however, the Mayans have correctly "predicted" three major Earth changes. However, these were hundreds of years off (when they happened versus the "predictions"). The Mayan calendar is ending in 2012, sure. (which is what happened with these three other "predictions") While not a big deal in itself, people are stupid enough to believe internet rumors that it means the end of the world. All the ending of the calendar suggests is a climate change. And don't blame global warming, it's been proven to not exist dozens of times over.

And, realistically, the world could end ANY second, of any day. A gamma-ray burst, if close enough, could literally vaporize the Earth. Obviously, we all know a large enough asteroid could end most [if not all] of life any minute as well.
