Why farmers store grains in elevated silos? Why don't they store grains horizontally?

answers:
Kaiser Wilhelm say: Tower silos take up less space and generally pack grain better due to gravity assisting.

Dances with Weed say: Simple. Space. It takes more space to store horizontally than vertically.

Mr. Smartypants say: In a silo you only have to open a door at the bottom and the grain flows out. So you dump it in the top and it flows out the bottom. If it was in a horizontal container you'd have to shovel it out or something.
