answers:
ken613uk say: The rain forests are being destroyed to plant soya to feed cattle. I remember that when I was at school over 60 years ago I was taught that the rain forests are essential as they absorb CO2 and release oxygen. They should be essential to help to prevent the global warming that we are told we are suffering

Paula say: Many crops contribute to it.
Sugar cane that is used to make fuel for cars instead of making sugar.
Soy that you have mentioned that is fed to animals instead of making soy sauce.
And many others.

These are not destroying the planet, but they have the effect of raising the price of sugar, soy sauce etc

random_man say: Soybeans are not destroying the planet.

There have been studies that suggest that animal agriculture is contributing to climate change.
-
susanstar1213 say: No, it's not

Dimo say: Humanity is "destroying" the planet. ALL of the stories of is "destroying the planet" is because we have too many people. But they are wrong. We cannot destroy the planet -- all we can do is kill off humanity.

The planet was going just fine, until "life" happened. But the planet survived.

Then "life" was doing just fine, until green plants happened, polluted the air with free oxygen. But the planet survived.

There was a Permo-Triassic mass extinction wiped out up to 70 percent of all land animals and 96 percent of all marine species, about 250 millions of years ago. But the planet survived.

About 66 millions a year a rather asteroid hit the planet, ash and soot from the impact then blocked the sun, causing a global winter that killed off more than 75 percent of the species on the planet. But the planet survived.

The planet currently is has humanity killing of the rest of the species on the planet. Eventually humanity will kill itself as well. AND the planet will still survive.

say: soy and corn. but in both cases its commodity soy and commodity corn. not your edamame or corn on the cob, but your vegetable oil and animal feed.
-
ckngbbbls say: people think that the soy beans grown are ONLY grown for feeding cattle...but do some research and you will find that cattle are fed the left overs AFTER oil is removed from the beans. Soybean oil isn't used for cattle, its used for people.
-
Randy say: Don't leave out the "soy boys".
-
say: They are using a lot of soy to feed cattle, which is having an impact
-
Ghost Of Christmas Past say: Save the planet. Eat a vegan
-
Louis say: It's not just soybeans.
And it's not technically the planet. The Death Star destroys planets.
But we have been steadily damaging the Earth's biosphere. Climate change MAY be the most urgent issue. Contribution to climate change includes agriculture, forestry, power production, and transportation.

Conservation of energy, and moving away from livestock production are the easiest and cheapest ways to reduce the production of greenhouse gasses. Alternate forms of energy will help but the switchover is expensive and time-consuming.
-
Nine Lives say: As far as I know, the humans are destroying the earth.
