Why are they called Great White Sharks when most of them are DARK on top? I don't want somebody telling me to Google it, because I have already done that & couldn't find the answer.
These are pics of the Shark:

Great White Sharks are called so because:
"Great" - Meaning large, they are huge! Great Whites are the 3rd biggest shark after the basking shark and the whale shark. They can grow to massive lengths even up to 26ft, and weigh up to 5000 pounds!
"White" - This is due to the colour of the white underbelly of the shark. If you were to call it "Great grey shark" it would be very confusing as almost all sharks are grey. Sure a lot of them also have the white belly but the Great white is very recognizable as it is.
"Shark" - because, well, it's a shark.
Great Whites are so beautiful! I could just stare in awe at those picture for hours! =)

I think it's because anybody who encounters one and is once bitten becomes twice shy.
