I found it on my tomato plant. I think it was feeding on the leaves and tomatoes. Is it a regular caterpillar or something else. It was pretty big (about as big as an adult finger). Be specific please (like name and whether it's bad or good). More details = higher chance to get 10 points.

Looks like it is a hornworm - more specifically a tabacco hornworm; they eat out tomato plants. I believe sprinkling cornstarch on the plants is a pesticide free way of removing these pests.

I don't think you'll find a more comprehensive answer than this one already provided on yahoo answers:

There is also some great information on this site:

He's a tomato hornworm. Whether he's good or bad depends on whether you like caterpillars or not. All caterpillars eat plant material, so he will nibble on your tomato plants, but he will also grow up into hummingbird moth, which I think are one of the two most beautiful moths in North America. I would leave him alone or move him into some vegetation away from your garden but I wouldn't kill him. Instead I'd look forward to taking photos of hummingbird moths later in the season.

The diagonal lines and orange-red horn indicate that this is a tobacco, rather than a tomato, hornworm. They are very similar, but the latter has a darker blue horn and v-shaped stripes on the sides. Despite the names, the two have overlapping preferences in food plants, so it is common to find e.g. a tobacco hornworm on a tomato plant or a tomato hornworm on tobacco.

Totally a horn worm or hawk moth larvae.
