How would you construct an experiment to examine whether boldness or/or shyness are heritable traits?

A typical hypothesis in such an area of research might state - boldness/shyness is passed on from parent to offspring via genetic information. To test the idea, you could set up a breeding program - select those individuals that clearly show one behaviour or the other and breed them. If your hypothesis is on the money, you would expect a statistical correlation between the individuals selected for breeding and an observed increase in the behaviours studied...
