I live in Washington State in the Tri-Cities, and today I saw a truly remarkable bird in a small creek outside of my workplace. At first, I thought that it was a swan. It looked very white to me, and had a long arched neck. When I got closer, though, I noticed that the bird's beak was pointy and its legs too long to be a swan; it looked more like a crane or a heron, and was quite large. What species of bird was this? I'm having trouble finding a straight answer on Google.

Look up Great Egret and Snowy Egret.

It looked VERY white? You thought it was a swan at first, but then....
I can totally relate. Last weekend I was eating breakfast, and I look out the window and I totally see a pterodactyl! I was like....whoa....but then I am like..it's totally huge, but then I go look closer and it's not as big, and dark, with retractable wings instead. Darker in color....and then I see it's a fly and it goes buzzing off, and I'm like.....mmkay.
