There are always cranes all around them. And at gatorland the gators were eating raw chicken given to them by employees while cranes and other birds were directly in front of them and even on them. The gators never even tried to eat them. Why is this?

Besides the fact that farm gators are never hungry (did you notice how obese the gators at gatorland are? this goes for nearly all farm gators), wild alligators on average eat one suitably sized meal a week, and the birds know this. Most of the time, everything's fine and dandy, the birds know the gator ate the other day, heck, they likely ate some of the scraps or fed on the fish that came to eat some of the scraps, but when the gator's hungry, it can turn into an all day dance. Bird notices the gator looking at it, backs away from the water, gator backs off, bird comes back to another spot on the bank, gator sneaks back up, bird notices, repeat as needed until the bird finally flies off or makes a mistake.

Because they are given the food. If the gators were to go after the other birds, they would have to work. The other food given to them is already dead and so no work is required. Its because they have become accustomed to laziness, and there is no point to working because either way they will get fed. In the wild gators would eat the birds. lazy:)

They would in the wild if hungry and had the opportunity. At Gatorland....why hunt....just sit there and people will feed you and they probably are never really hungry.

Wild gaters do eat cranes or any other bird they can catch!
