Should We Worry about Electromagnetic Pulse Attacks?ha?
-
An Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) Attack is the use of a weapon designed to induce overwhelming voltages and currents in as many electric circuits as possible. The intention for using such a weapon is to deny the victims of such attack the use of anything electrical or electronic in nature. This would include phones, computers, automobiles, TV, radio stoves and everything else electric. A properly placed weapon could even overwhelm large sections of the power grid, denying service to millions of people at once.
EMPs can be shielded against to a certain degree by wrapping the electronics in a conductive case which may be able to absorb the induced currents and conduct them safely to ground. Most distribution grid overhead wires would be impossible to shield due to cost and weight factors so remain openly exposed to this type of attack.

It f***s up all the electronics. So the reason people worry about it is because it would kind of leave a place defenseless for a while. Like, if aliens or another country wanted to attack us, they could send an EMP first, so we couldn't launch missiles at them and stuff.

It is where a electromagnet develops a pulse. Soon after that it will violently attack eveythin in sight. It's best to stay away from those.
