Displacement of Two Vectors. HELP !

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 11-12-02] [Hit: ]
-Displacement is how far from the starting point you end up.So if the car traveled 150 km north (vertically) and 400 km east (horizontally),c ≈ 427.So, the displacement is about 427.2 km.......
A car drives 150km [N] and then 400km [E]. What is the total displacement !?

Displacement is how far from the starting point you end up. So if the car traveled 150 km north (vertically) and 400 km east (horizontally), use the Pythagorean theorem to find the distance from the starting point:
a² + b² = c²
150² + 400² = c²
c² = 182500
c ≈ 427.2

So, the displacement is about 427.2 km.

Hope that helps :)
