A book is sliding across a table that has kinetic energy. What happens to this kinetic energy as the book comes to rest? What evidence would support this? (Please answer with detail.)

energy is being lost due to for example friction or heat. as the book slides, the frictional force slows down the velocity and this friction causes heat that then reduces the kinetic energy and thus proportianlly decreases the velocity and therefore the book comes to rest.
