What makes you lose speed? I feel like it has something to do with the density of the water versus our density, but I don't know for sure. This question just popped into my head today.

Fluid resistance. Even air has some resistance, as you can tell if you stick your head out of a car traveling at 60 MPH. But water has a lot more.
Yes, it has to do with density, water is a lot more dense than air, therefore it has a much higher resistance to movement.
