I started taking zoloft for bi-polar depression (seroquel for the mania) and after 2 months on 200mg in the AM of zoloft it was clear it wasn't working, so my doctor said for 3 weeks take 100mg of zoloft and 75mg of effexor XR until my next appointment (to go less again if not off of zoloft and increas the effexor more.
It's the 2nd day on the 100mg/75mg and I'm a little shaky with some mania and agitated.
I've had much slower tapers off SSRI's before but that was just going off them. Should Effexor being an SSNI be sufficient to taper onto while dropping 2 months of 200mg zoloft (SSNI) in half?

Tapering SSRI's / SSNI's isn't an exact science.
Stay the course for a few days if you can. The Effexor may not be doing much yet.
If things don't improve or worsen, give your doc a call.
