There is really nothing else like Metronidazole--please clarify. If you are talking about Fluconazole it is classified as an anti-fungal medication and is not an antibiotic.Yes they are totally different medications.Metronidazole is an antibiotic whereas Fluconazole is an anti-fungal medication. Not even close to the same.-Metronidazole has no relation to the penicillin class; but you do not state your other med,......
Can you take metronidazole if you have had an allergic reaction to two different antibiotics in the recent past, including penicillin?

-
Metronidazole is not in the same drug class as penicillin, and I would need the name of the other antibiotib you were allergic to in order to properly answer your question.

Also I need to know what happened when you took penicillin and the other antibiotic? Did you have an anaphylactic reaction, did you have trouble breathing?? Please tell me so I can answer your question.

Are you referring to Fluconazole? There is really nothing else like Metronidazole--please clarify. If you are talking about Fluconazole it is classified as an anti-fungal medication and is not an antibiotic.

Yes they are totally different medications. Metronidazole is an antibiotic whereas Fluconazole is an anti-fungal medication. Not even close to the same.

Metronidazole has no relation to the penicillin class; but you do not state your other med, or if it was a reaction or merely a side effect. Metronidazole is really in a class by itself, so the likelihood of it being OK for you is good.

Call up the pharmacy and ask a pharmacist, don't take any chances
