Yes! Hyperfocus is actually a common symptom of ADD, believe it or not. Often, when an ADD person is working on/reading/etc something that interests them, they will focus on that topic specifically and block out everything else in the world. This definitely happens to me all the time.
Think about it kind of like daydreaming, which is a very well known symptom of ADD. You focus so much on the daydreaming that everything else around you seems to disappear. This is also a form of hyperfocusing.

Sure. A lot of people with ADD can't concentrate on things that don't interest them, but if they enjoy the topic they can get hyperfocused on it.
