Please go to this link: http://tulsa.curriculum.schooldesk.net/Portals/Tulsa/Curriculum/docs/Math/Grade%207/unit%201/Lessons/Lesson%2019.pdf
and then go to page 9 and you will see this question, question 1, along with a picture of the rectangle and the answer to this question which is the scale factor is 1/3.
Can you please explain how to get the answer 1/3? I'm confused.

Rectangle is 8 units by 4 units => 32 square units
Actual area of rectangle is 288 square feet
scale factor is 32 square units : 288 square feet
=> 1 square unit : 9 square feet
=> 1 unit : 3 feet
Actual area of rectangle is 288 square feet
scale factor is 32 square units : 288 square feet
=> 1 square unit : 9 square feet
=> 1 unit : 3 feet
