1. g/8 = -3/4
Multiply both sides by 8:
g = (-3 x 8)/4 = -3 x 2 = -6

2. m/8 = 8 1/3
First convert the 8 1/3 into a fraction:
m / 8 = 25 / 3
Multiply both sides by 8:
m = (25 x 8) / 3 = 200 /3 = 66 2/3

3. Which of the following solutions is true for x/3 = 1/4?
A. -2 3/4 B. 1/12 C. 3/4 D. 3 1/4
Multiply both sides by 3:
x = (1 x 3) / 4 = ¾ Which is C

4.Shelly completed 10 problems of her homework in study hall. This is 2/7 of the total assignment. How many problems does she have left to complete?

Where: t = the number of problems in the total assignment
So: 10 = (2/7) x t = 2t / 7
Multiply both sides by 7:
70 = 2 t
So: t = 70/2 = 35
But Shelly has done 10 problems so she has: 35 – 10 = 25 problems still to do.

2) ml8 = 8 1/3

m/8 = 25/8
m = 25/8 * 8

m = 25

3) x/3 = 1/4
x = 1/4 * 3
x = 3/4 (C)

4) 1 - 2/7 = 7/7 - 2/7 = 5/7
