I depends on what amount of drops makes contact with the moth and your accuracy. there are many factor to take into consideration. the air could blow the liquid elsewhere, the moth may dodge the liquid. the moth will probably fly a little further because i has come across a foreign substance and it's freaked out so it will fly randomly only to drop. don't be scared. moths don't do anything.
cockroachs probably know when it's night time even if you leave the lights off. they have certain senses that address this. light from light bulbs gives off different heat then the sun's rays. but even so. cockraochs usually stay away from light so that way you rarely see them out during the day.
