Need help on a maths question on finding a parallel line!

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 12-11-19] [Hit: ]
Passes through 0,6 so plug it into the equation.......
So the question is:
Find the equation of a line which is parallel to the line with the equation y=3x-1 and which passes through (0,6)
Can you explain how you get the answer as well please....THANKS!! :D

-
Parallel lines have the same slope so in this case its gonna be 3. Use the formula y=mx+b
M=slope
Y=3x+b
Passes through 0,6 so plug it into the equation.
6=3(0)+b solve for b
6=b
Answer: y=3x+6

-
y=3x+b Replace the x and y with the numbers and you replace -1 with b because it's a parallel equation
6=3(0)+b
6=0+b
6=b
y=3x+6 is your final answer
