the original number/variable is n. help!......
I have to use the variable n in these problems. It gives me, in order, what to do. Here's one set:
Subtract 8
Add 7
Multiply 6
Add 5
Add 4
Divide 3
Subtract 2 times the original number
Answer should be 1

Here's the second set i must do:
Subtract 11
Multiply 3
Add 5 times the original number
Add 1
Divide 4
Add 8
Your answer should be twice the original number

In this case, the original number/variable is n. help!

-
i) 6(n-1)+9 = 6n+3
(6n+3)/3 = 2n+1
2n+1 - 2n = 1

ii) 3(n-11) = 3n-33
3n-33+5n+1 = 8n-32
(8n-32)/4 = 2n-8
2n-8+8 = 2n
