Math, algebra 1? Please help

because no Algebra 1 class I know of would have a teacher that wants students to use 3.14 for π.r= 5/(2π) inches~~0.795775 inches-3.......
Question:
Solve C=2(3.14)r for r. What is the radius of a circle with circumference 5 cm?
Thanks

-
1. Plug in 5 for C= 2(3.14)r
2. Multiply 2(3.14)
3. 5=6.28r
4. Divide 6.28 on both sides.
5. 0.80=r

To solve an equation for a variable means to get that equation into the form [variable]=[other stuff about the equation]. Seeing that you're in Algebra 1, I'm going to assume that by (3.14), you mean (pi) or π, because no Algebra 1 class I know of would have a teacher that wants students to use 3.14 for π.

C=2πr
2πr=C
r= C/(2π)

r= 5/(2π) inches~~0.795775 inches

3.14 = pi

5 = 2pi(r)

5/(2pi) = r
