6y^2-23y+15
I already know the answer is (y-3)(6y-5) but I have no idea how to get it because I get stuck after setting it up like this: (2y(3y-9)-5(y+3)
What am I doing wrong?

you're on the right track!
so after getting 2y(3y-9)-5(y-3), (<-- it should be a -3 because -5 x -3 = the positive 15 given)
you can still pull out a 3 from the first part in parentheses, which would look like:
2y(3)(y-3)-5(y-3)
which can be simplified to (6y-5)(y-3) by combining the terms on the outside, 2y(3) and -5, into one factor, and keeping the other factor in common with both parts, (y-3).

6y^2-18y-5y+15 =
6y(y-3)-5(y-3) =
(6y-5)(y-3)
6y(y-3)-5(y-3) =
(6y-5)(y-3)
