I'm currently a sophomore, and I'm talking Algebra II.
I usually understand the homework and whenever I don't, I make sure to ask my teacher. If he's not available, I ask my friend (who is in Pre-calc). Anyways, so far we've had 1 quiz and 2 tests. I got 78 on the first test, and 72 on the second, even though I studied wayyy more for the second AND I understood it better. What can I do to get better in math and raise my grade? I have an 80% in the class right now...
Thanks!

(1) Practice the questions assigned in the lesson. Are you doing all of the homework questions? There is a big difference between 'understanding' the homework on the day it is assigned and understanding it the day of the quiz. If you are already doing ALL of the assigned homework, great!
(2) You should review previous questions from each lesson before taking your tests to refresh the concepts so you will be ready for the quiz/tests. This is 'extra' work, but this is the way to make sure you retain the information.
(3) When you study, do it in a quiet area without distractions: i.e., no ipod, texting, chatting, TV, etc. Focus solely on your studying, and you will retain the information better.

Well, Brooke, if you have a textbook with answers at the back, that would be really helpful. I've had the same problem as you(heck, I even failed two Calculus courses in college). But you'll be more familiar with the problems once you have a general feel of what is to come.
Always answer the exercises on your book and check the back if you got it right. :D

Study the math problems more and work them down to the lowest terms. Always pay attention.
