Let X be a random variable

Mean = (116.4 + 115.9 + 114.6 + 115.2 + 115.8)*(1/5) = 115.58

di = xi - Mean

d1 = 116.4 - 115.58 = 0.82

d2 = 115.9 - 115.58 = 0.32

d3 = 114.6 - 115.58 = - 0.98

d4 = 115.2 - 115.58 = - 0.38

d5 = 115.8 - 115.58 = 0.22

An interesting property of the mean, is that ∑di = 0. Verify it!
