giving 51/4; likewise, 10 becomes 40/4 and 10 3/4 is 43/4.51/4 + 43/4 = 94/4.We then simplify,94 / 4 = 23.5 = 23½.......
12 3/4 + 10 3/4 = ?
please help me,thanks!

(It's 23 1/2)

You could do one of two things:

- You could work on the components separately; that is, first add 12 and 10 ( = 22 ), then add 3/4 to 3/4 ( = 1 ½ ). You then add these two together: 22 + 1 ½ = 23 ½.

- You could convert them all to improper fractions: 12 becomes 48/4 (multiply by 4), and to this we add the 3/4, giving 51/4; likewise, 10 becomes 40/4 and 10 3/4 is 43/4. We add these together:
51/4 + 43/4 = 94/4.
We then simplify, perhaps by doing the division:
94 / 4 = 23.5 = 23½.
