Because: y=2x-10
So: 4x+5y=6
4x+5(2x-10)=6
4x+10x-50=6
14x-50=6
14x=6+50
14x=56
x=4
Because: x=4
So: y=2x4-10=8-10=-2
So:x=4, y=-2
So: 4x+5y=6
4x+5(2x-10)=6
4x+10x-50=6
14x-50=6
14x=6+50
14x=56
x=4
Because: x=4
So: y=2x4-10=8-10=-2
So:x=4, y=-2

Label your equations with (1) and (2)
4x+5y=6 .... (1)
y=2x-10 ......(2)
Now substitute equation labelled (2) into (1) since y is equal to 2x-10, for every "y" that you see in equation (1) place 2x-10 instead.
so: 4x+5y=6
4x+ 5(2x-10)=6 (did you see that? where there was a y i put 2x-10 because they're equivalent)
4x + 10x-50 =6 ( you times out the brackets algebraically)
14x =56 ( Add like terms and get your unknowns on the left hand side)
x = 56/14
x = 4 ..... (3) (now you know the value for x. label this equation (3))
Substitute (3) into (2) to get the value of y
So: y=2x-10
y=2(4) -10 ( you see, wherever i saw an x, i replaced it with 4)
y=-8-10
y=-2
Voila! therefore x=4, y=-2
:-)
4x+5y=6 .... (1)
y=2x-10 ......(2)
14x =56 ( Add like terms and get your unknowns on the left hand side)
x = 56/14
x = 4 ..... (3) (now you know the value for x. label this equation (3))
Substitute (3) into (2) to get the value of y
So: y=2x-10
y=2(4) -10 ( you see, wherever i saw an x, i replaced it with 4)
y=-8-10
y=-2
Voila! therefore x=4, y=-2

You have 2 equations.
1) 4x+ 5y=6
2) y=2x-10
putting the value of 'y' from equation 2 into equation 1.
4x+ 5y=6 will become
4x+ 5(2x-10)=6
4x+ 10x-50=6
14x-50=6
14x= 6+ 50
14x=56
x=56/14
x=4
putting this value of 'x' into equation 2.
then y=2x-10 will become
y=2*4-10
y=8-10
y=-2
so, x=4 and y=-2
1) 4x+ 5y=6
2) y=2x-10
putting the value of 'y' from equation 2 into equation 1.
4x+ 5y=6 will become
4x+ 5(2x-10)=6
4x+ 10x-50=6
14x-50=6
14x= 6+ 50
14x=56
x=56/14
x=4
putting this value of 'x' into equation 2.
then y=2x-10 will become
y=2*4-10
y=8-10
y=-2
so, x=4 and y=-2
-
substitute the second equation into the first 4x+5(2x-10)=6 then work that out to 4x+10x-50=6 then add the x"s, put it it on one sid and the non x number on the other side of the equals then devide the non letter number by the letter number.

if y=2x-10, then we can get 4x+5(2x-10)=6
then 4x+10x-50=6
14x=56
x=4
so y=2x4-10=-2
so x=4,y=-2
then 4x+10x-50=6
14x=56
x=4
so y=2x4-10=-2
so x=4,y=-2
