Can you please show me how to answer this question. I have a maths test soon.

(x^3/10) + 1 = 4/x
x^4/10 + x = 4 ... multiply by x
x^4 + 10x = 40 ... multiply by 1
x^4 + 10x - 40 = 0 ... rearrange to form x^4 + ax + b = 0
So a = 10, b = -40
x^4/10 + x = 4 ... multiply by x
x^4 + 10x = 40 ... multiply by 1
x^4 + 10x - 40 = 0 ... rearrange to form x^4 + ax + b = 0
So a = 10, b = -40

All they want you to do is clear the denominator. Multiply the whole thing by 10x. Then everything you have will be in the numerator. Then all you have to do is shovel everything to 1 side of the = sign with 0 on the other. Then you can pick a & b right off the eqn.

(x^3/10) + 1 = 4/x
(x^3/10) + 1 - 4/x = 0
(x^4 + 10x - 40) / 10x = 0
x^4 + 10x - 40 = x^4 + ax + b
a = 10 , b = -40
(x^3/10) + 1 - 4/x = 0
(x^4 + 10x - 40) / 10x = 0
x^4 + 10x - 40 = x^4 + ax + b
a = 10 , b = -40

x^3/10+1=4/x
x^3 +10 = 40/x
x^4+10x=40
x^4+10x-40=0
a=10
b=-40
x^3 +10 = 40/x
x^4+10x=40
x^4+10x-40=0
a=10
b=-40
