I've been doing it for the past 2 hours and I keep getting the wrong answer (the right answer is -2,9) This deals with rational equations/proportions. I keep getting like -46 or something like that. Here is the problem
2p - 3/p2 + 12p +6 = 1/ p + 4
2p - 3/p2 + 12p +6 = 1/ p + 4
-
(2p - 3)/(p2 + 12p + 6) = 1/(p + 4)
(2p - 3)(p + 4) = (p2 + 12p + 6)
2p^2 + 5p - 12 = p^2 + 12p + 6
p^2 - 7p - 18 = 0
p^2 - 9p + 2p - 18 = 0
p(p - 9) + 2(p - 9) = 0
(p + 2)(p - 9) = 0
Solutions:
p = -2
p = 9
(2p - 3)(p + 4) = (p2 + 12p + 6)
2p^2 + 5p - 12 = p^2 + 12p + 6
p^2 - 7p - 18 = 0
p^2 - 9p + 2p - 18 = 0
p(p - 9) + 2(p - 9) = 0
(p + 2)(p - 9) = 0
Solutions:
p = -2
p = 9
