sqrt x^2 + 20x + 100 is in a problem i'm solving and I wanted to ask can you take out the x and 10 from under the radical? Since its sqrt x^2 is x and sqrt 100 is 10.

No. But x² + 20x + 100 = (x + 10)², so
√(x² + 20x + 100) = ± (x + 10)
√(x² + 20x + 100) = ± (x + 10)
