You invested $11,100.00 in stocks and bonds, paying 5.7% and 7.4%, respectively. If the total interest earned for the year was $643.00, how much was invested in stocks and how much was invested in bonds?

hahaha! your terrible! shirking your homework to the online community! BRILLIANT!
I wish i had that idea when I was at school, heres ya answer.
find the difference ration between 7.4 and 5.7 (7.4 divided by 5.7) this is 1.298.
getting the whole, $643 then divide it by 100 to find 1% of that number which is 6.47.
we then multiply it by the difference ratio 1.298 x 6.47 which = 8.34. (this is our difference)
643, divided by 2, as 2 numbers are used to make it. 643 dived by 2 = 321.5
add our difference which is 329.84 this is bonds, take our difference which is 313.16 this is our stocks.
we now need to find how much of our investment was placed in stocks and bonds that equal the numbers I have given you. Iv mostly answered this for you, I think you should figure the rest out...and that im possibly to lazy to finish it ^_^ I hate math.
