Equation: 3x-2y=5

Substitution is just basically substituting something in for something else, like "plugging it in" to the equation.
So if y=-3x-7, you just plug that in to the first equation. So it'll look something like 3x-2(-3x-7)=5.
Then, you solve for x.
Distribute the -2.
Add the common factors (6x & 3x).
Subtract 14 from both sides.
Then divide by 9. You'll end up with x.
When you get x, plug that in to the second equation to get y. Then just simplify.
Hope that helped!
