A quick way to square a binomial............answers are called PERFECT SQUARE TRINOMIALS

(X+Y)^2............5 Rules
1....Square first term...X^2
2...Bring down the same sign as the problem....+
3...Twice the product of the two terms....2*X*Y......2XY
4...ALWAYS a positive....+
5...Square the last term....Y^2
ANSWER.......................X^2+2XY+Y^…
EXAMPLES
(3X-5Y)^2=9X^2-30XY+Y^2
(5X+8Y)^2=25X^2+80XY+64Y^2

(x - 6)^2

x^2 - 12x + 36

(x^2*z^3)*(x*y^2*z)..............Add exponents when multiplying Like Bases

x^3 * y^2 * z^4

(x-6) to the 2nd is the same as (x-6)*(x-6). To multiply these things, you need to FOIL

(x-6)(x-6) = x^2 - 6x - 6x + 36
= x^2 - 12x + 36


To multiply (x^2*z^3)((xy)^2 * z), you need to use some exponent rules.

First (AB)^2 = A^2 * B^2 , so we get

(x^2*z^3)(x^2 * y^2 * z),

Also A^n * A^m = A^(n+m), so we get

x^(2+2) * y^2 * x^(3 + 1)
x^4 * y^2 * x^4
