2x+y=9 find missing values x and y? 1)x=-3
so I do this
2(-3)+y=9
-6+y=9
y=9/-6
But here is the problem the computer won´t allow me to insert fractions.. so what can i do can I simplify this even more? I have like 7 x and y values and they all five me fractions but the computer can´t accept fracions any idea? Thanks!

when moving one thing to the other side....you do the opposite....so a positive number is subtracted.
-6+y=9
y= 9+6
y=15
Say you did get -9/6 (in a different problem), it would be -1.5
6 goes into 9....1.5 times. and then you have the negative.

Aside from the fact the answer is wrong.
If the answer was 9/-6, have you simply performed the division like 9/-6 = -1.5
In this case you want to add 6 to both sides
so you get y = 15

you are doing it wrong, you don't divide the -6, you add 6 to both sides:
y = 15
y = 15
