Consider the rectangle PQRS with vertices at P (-1, -1), Q (7, -1), R (7, 3) and S (-1, 3). For each step, draw the newly transformed shape and record the vertices.

Translate rectangle PQRS down 2 units and left 3 units. What are the new coordinates?

Down 2 units:
P(-1,-1)->P'(-1,-3)
Q(7,-1)->Q' (7,-3)
R(7,3)->R' (7,1)
S(-1,3)->S'(-1,1)

Left 3 units:
P'(-1,3)->P"(-4,-3)
Q'(7,-3)->Q"(4,-3)
R'(7,1)->R"(4,1)
S'(-1,1)->S"(-4,1)

P",Q",R",S" are the new coordinates.
