Solve for x intercept by completing the square

..can you find the intercepts now ?go for it.........
-x^2-4x+5=0 ? complete the square

-
- x^2 - 4x + 5 = 0 ?

complete the square

- (x^2 + 4x + ___) = - 5

what will complete the square ? did you say + 4 ? I hope so...

- (x^2 + 4x + 4) = - 5 - 4 = - 9

- (x + 2)^2 = - 9

can you find the intercepts now ? go for it...you can do it.

qed

[(1, 0) and (- 5, 0)]

-
-1(x^2+4x-5)=0
x^2+4x-5=0/-1
(x^2+4x+4)-5-4=0
[(x+2)^2]- 9=0
(x+2)^2=9
x=9-2
=7
x intercept is (7,0)
hope this helps!!!

-
-x² - 4x + 5 = 0

x² + 4x - 5 = 0

(x + 5)(x - 1) = 0

x = 1, -5
